Associated Northcliffe Digital, the consumer digital division of DMGT has acquired niche job board Oilcareers.com. The specialist site, which services the oil and gas sectors, will become part of the media group’s portfolio of recruitment sites, lead by Jobsite.
Some information on Oilcareers.com:
Oilcareers.com is a key player in the oil and gas industry attracting an impressive 285,000 unique visitors each month with a database of approximately 220,000 searchable candidate CVs. Oilcareers.com works with the leading recruitment agencies and employers in the oil and gas industry who post almost 6,000 vacancies per month.
The 285,000 unique visitors is not a public audit figure (there is no ABC Electronic certificate for this site), but I expect Jobsite have had the traffic independently confirmed.
At the current time we’ve been unable to confirm financial details of the deal, we’ll keep you posted. If we use the logic of our earlier analysis (which finds DMGT paying about 40 GBP per unique user) the price tag would have been between 10 and 12 million pounds. This seems high, my guess would be significantly lower, but we’ll see.
This acquisition comes just weeks after Trinity Mirror’s buy out of TheCareerEngineer and will no doubt have niche job board owners wondering when the media groups will come knocking (if they are not already).
